It was early Friday afternoon when my best friend gave me a ring that he would be in Milwaukee for a business meeting. Although “short notice” seemed like an understatement, I am typically willing to do what it takes to spend time with friends. I dove into my closet in order to find that “It” outfit for the afternoon and evening in the city.
Of course, what to wear to this surprise reunion was an important decision. I finally selected a chic off-shoulder red floral print dress with a wide flair at the bottom paired with lace-up black stiletto heels. To complete this outfit, vintage cat-eye sunglasses and Kendra Scott earrings brought out the timeless classic look. With such a very hot summer day, this dress with the added “oomph” of the shades made the transition from day to night an easy one. I was definitely ready for a fantastic evening!
After work, I excitedly packed my stuff and drove for two hours. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a city completely alive! The air was melodious with the downtown musical festival and smelled of delicious seasonings and freshly grilled delights as the restaurants were filled to capacity. One could hear people singing and watch them dancing as other people, many couples, enjoyed the company of one another as they walked around. I even had some photos taken while waiting for my dinner date.
This time strolling around the city gave me time for reflection. I thought about when I was younger and some times confused regarding what option to take. I often asked myself, Should I take the easier route? Is that road too good to be true? What if I fail? Should I just stay and be content? Is it worth it to push myself further?… What if’s…….
Fast forward. Quite often the more difficult paths were the most rewarding, and I am glad I took that courage and strength to push on. The road of life has many twists and turns. A smooth patch can become rough and rocky without warning. When you reach a fork in the road, it can be scary trying to decide which way to go. But if you follow your heart and use your head, good things are bound to happen. So when you’re ready to take your first step, Cross that road like you own it!!
