I hope your first month of 2018 was wonderful! Mine was great…it just went by soooo fast. I seriously can’t believe it is already February and time to figure out what we’re going to do for Valentine’s Day.
Thankfully, Tre Rivali gave us a great idea for V-Day by inviting us to their first ever Pasta Making Class. We were immediately greeted by their friendly staff and our wonderful instructors: Executive Chef Heather Terhune and Executive Sous Chef David Wolfe.
Prior to starting the class, we were treated to a lovely assortment of meats and cheeses paired with a light and refreshing white wine. It made for a nice way to interact with our hosts and our fellow classmates :).
The stations were set up to work in pairs which was perfect for me and my husband….although I wound up doing most of the work so he could take pictures!
It was a great setup as they had everything pre-portioned for you and paired it with the exact detailed directions/measurements so you can replicate everything at home. The recipes included how to make the pasta, sauce, filling, and proteins for two different complete meals! We even got to take home the tools we used to make our very own pasta from scratch.
We had never made pasta by hand before and thankfully both David and Heather were so patient and helpful with everyone. They started off by showing us how to make the pasta dough from scratch. Then, after that they had already prepared sheets of pasta for everyone to learn how to make all different kinds of shapes and raviolis.
I will say this though…making pasta is definitely work! So ladies, bring your guy and have him do the kneading for you while you drink wine and snack!
After everyone built up an appetite from kneading their pasta dough, we were each treated to two different types of pastas off their menu paired with a perfect red wine to complement the dishes. They also happened to be the very ones we were making in the class and had the recipes to make at home! How cool is that?
After dinner, Heather and David took everyone’s pasta dough and cut it into fresh pasta to take home and cook. This was ours and we all had a little fun with it seeing how long of strands they could make!
Everyone got to take the pasta they made home which made for some wonderful home made leftovers the next day. We had such a wonderful time and it was so much fun learning something new! The whole class lasted about an hour and a half which felt about right to us. There was plenty of time to learn, to eat, and to socialize with some new and old friends!
